How Safe is Yours .doc or .jpg Files?

Dare to open any .doc or .jpg file? After reading this, you won’t take it easy!
I’m not challenging, a sizzling fact has come to the light that malware are now using trusted computing industry’s standard i.e. Unicode, to mask themselves. Avast security Lab has named the new deceiving tool as "Unitrix". Thus, what seems to be a simple word file or image file could be a payload of viruses and Trojans, raising the potential threat level on your machine.
“Unicode” displays alphabets written in a right-to-left schema such as Arabic or Hebrew and flips the displayed text after special hidden codes such as 0x202E (right-to-left override) are added to the file name. An infected malware file with “gpj.exe” is displayed to the recipient as the more innocent sounding “photo_D18727_Collexe.jpg”.
Next time, don’t ignore any warning or pop-up associated with such files. Avast help can come into your rescue, provided you are in time.
Experts can readily take the ownership of your machine to fix any related issues in no time. They can backup and successfully edit the Windows Registry to remove the culprit.
Avast Support”, the portal do bear effective malware removal tools which can be executed in a quick and easy manner.

Norton Support: Touched The Pulse Of My Laptop

Advocating ‘prevention is better than cure’ I installed Norton Antivirus 2011 on my hp laptop yesterday. I did, as all do, in a quest to protect system data from viruses and spyware.
Though installation and activation were successful, but when I restarted my system, I was shocked with the Windows response-time. It was almost creeping, I had some urgent work, which I was bound to finish, so I worked for an hour. The performance of the system irritated me a lot.
I took a deep breath after completing it. I was in no mood take any further jolt, so I decided to get it fixed; after a bit surfing I found a portal saying “Norton Support: Quick and Easy”, I read the content, and found it some relevant. There was a contact number as well.
I dialed it, and in no time an expert pick my phone, with a welcome tone: “My name is Jacob, how may I assist you?”, first I thought it could be a robotic response, but I was wrong. In fact, he was a gentleman. I was mesmerized with his way of talking. After taking a bit detail about system configuration he took the remote access of the laptop.
Now, I had nothing do except watching the wizard action on the laptop-screen. What I could see the cursor movement. He uninstalled a conflicting security product from the system, which was outdated, and the changed of settings of the Norton Antivirus.
Later on he performed a “full scan”, and cleared off some viruses, which were available under the hidden system files. He edited the registry settings a bit to delete corresponding registry entries. Eventually, he told me to restart the machine, thankfully, all was well.
He provided me an article with few steps to scan viruses and spyware.
Double click “Norton Antivirus”.
Click “Settings”.
Under “Real Time Protection”, if Auto-Protect shows “Off”, click the status indicator to turn it “On”.
Click “Apply”, and then click “OK”.
In the “Computer Protection” pane, click “Scan Now”.
In the “Computer Scan” pane, click “Full System Scan”.
When the scan completes, click “Finish”.
Close the program, and restart the computer.
If your machine is running slow, and have the Norton software, then you can adhere above steps. Don’t wait, do it yourself.

Update Antivirus To Check Malicious Threats And Keep Your Machine Ever New

How can I forget the day, when I got the first laptop? It was precious as it was a gift from a loving dad to a son. I was burst with joy. It gave me a reason to boast round.
It came loaded with Windows 7 with service pack 1, Office 2007 and other applications. It had a lightning speed. I updated facebook and Myspace with new pics and transferred some crucial data related to the school project on to it.
All went smooth for a couple of months. I was quite happy as I could stay connected with my buddies besides accomplishing assignments. Gradually, it became sluggish in performance. Initially, I defragmented the hard disk to remove the chaos, and speeds it up. But that didn’t solve the purpose.
Once while surfing on the Internet I came across an article which was saying: “How to speed up your PC?” It was quite informative one, and I decided to follow it. First few steps were general like delete temporary Internet files, unwanted downloaded program files, such as Microsoft ActiveX controls and Java applets, optional Windows components and more.
I restarted my system, to see the aftermath, but still there was no improvement. Meanwhile, reading the article, I was directed to the computer support portals through a hyperlink. There I got the contact number for the portal.
With no delay I contacted the support provider and it proved to be a sensible decision as the system was on the blink of crash due to virus attack. Thou’ the system bore the antivirus software but that was outdated.
A technician helped me to uninstall antivirus program from the machine, and get a new antivirus protection for it. As I was getting some antivirus installation error, he took the remote access of the system, and installed antivirus on my behalf. He performed a scanning and showed me how the system was severely affected with viruses and bad files.
Later, he asked me to click on a tab to close the remote session, and then instructed me to restart the system for a test. Amazing! System booted as though a new machine brought that day. I was overwhelmed with the antivirus support; later I paid the charge, and thanked the expert many a time.

Installing AVG Antivirus on Your System

Finally, I understood the importance of an antivirus software tool for any system. Well, frankly speaking, I use my computer rarely, but since a month, I have been continuously using it for hours, due to some research work related to my profession. Last Saturday, my system encountered with an issue associated to performance, it was also getting restarted intermittently. One of the associates of my office is quite proficient in respect to technical aspects, so I thought of taking his help to resolve this matter.  He analyzed the situation, and installed AVG antivirus software for protecting my system from various Internet attacks.  And believe me guys; the security tool removed more than 100 viruses from my system, which finally resolved the issue. So, I thought of sharing some steps that I performed to install AVG antivirus on my system:

Step1: Run the *.exe file of Avg security, by placing installation disk in your system’s optical drive. If you do not have the installation disk, you can also download it free from any of the AVG support websites. By clicking on this link, you can save the installation file on your system.  Next, double-click on the installation file.

·    Step2: Next, AVG welcome screen appears along with the button named as “Next”, click on it to initiate the installation process.

· Step3: On the next screen, you can read the terms and conditions, associated with the installation. Read all terms and conditions carefully, and click “Accept” button, located on the screen. Next, the security software will check your system’s configuration and status.

·    Step4: After that, a new screen appears, click “Next” button again, then enter the username, and click the button “Finish”, which will be situated on the Installation summary screen.

·     Step 5: Click “Ok”, after the installation process is completed, and restart the system.
Additionally, if you are planning to uninstall AVG antivirus for the reinstallation or any other security issue, it will be great to remove it, as per the guidelines of AVG support.

Basic Troubleshooting for your Security Software

Installing an effective antivirus protection on your system is one of the most important and useful steps, while setting up your PC. It performs various tasks such as scanning, looking for malicious data in your files in the background, and keeps your system highly optimized and safe.

But, sometimes, you may encounter with conditions, when your antivirus software generates various errors or does not work properly. Last week, I found myself, unable to run system scan, as the antivirus application used to shut down intermittently, and moreover, it was showing an error to install antivirus again, and while updating its virus database. Well, truly speaking, I am not a computer expert, but still tried to troubleshoot the issue on my own, by browsing some of the technical troubleshooting websites. After a long and unfruitful research for hours, it seemed that accidently, I deleted some of the other important files of my security software. Situation got worse!

Now, I had no idea to resolve the issue, and most of my Internet transactions are financial in nature, where security is essential. I browsed a phone number of an antivirus support provider to get the immediate resolution to my issues. Thanks to that technical expert, who provided me the instant resolution, and guided with the easy to follow troubleshooting steps, which are as following:

  • Clicked on “Start” button on Windows-XP operating system, situated on the bottom left corner on the system’s screen, and opened the “Control Panel”, appeared in the menu. After that, I double-clicked on the “Add/Remove Option”.
  •  Next, I located my security software, and clicked on the button namely “Remove”, situated next to that. It removed the existing antivirus software, and then I restarted my system.
  •  Then, reinstalled the antivirus software by placing the disk in my system. I double-clicked the set up file situated in the CD, and provided activation key later. After the installation, I was guided to update the antivirus-software, which can prevent system from various issues related to Internet attacks.

So, if you are facing the same issue with your security software, reinstalling it can resolve the issue without taking antivirus help from any technician.

Have Problems with YouTube Content? Mold The Computer Settings

Last night I was quite sentimental due to some conflicts in the family. After hours of thinking and planning I thought better to have a brain wash. I took out the HP laptop and explored the youtube to find some video clips of my choice.
I selected some gossip video clips. But as I clicked the “Play” button the system popped up an error related to outdated Adobe Flash Player version. I clicked on the “Update now” button but there was no response. After a serious of failed attempt, I called up my son who is a bit good in computer troubleshooting.
He tried well, but we were still on ground zero; after accessing entire system the only good he could conclude was that there are some security issues. Next, he called up avast Technical Support which was worth calling. After collecting some basic details regarding the operating system and the installed avast version a technician asked for the remote access of the system.
I was a bit hesitant but then my son assured me that everything would be right very soon, and you just sit relax. I allowed him, and I found that he was right.
The technician reinstalled and updated the Avast antivirus on the system, and in no time I was back on the youtube video with audios and videos both streaming well with great clarity and resolution.
The expert educated me on  antivirus settings so as to avoid such issues in future. I found the user-interface of the program quite easy. I added youtube.com in the trusted domain in the Windows Firewall settings.
Satisfying result overwhelmed me, and till date I have kept the avast Support  with me.
